The house
We make very little, and we make it slowly.
BY OYÍN is a quiet house of leather goods. No seasons, no logos on the outside, no piece released before it is finished. What follows is how we work and why.
An object should outlive the reason it was bought.
We were tired of objects designed to be replaced. So we built a house around the opposite instinct: fewer pieces, longer patterns, materials that improve with the years rather than apologise for them.
Chapter I
A beginning without noise
The house began with one pattern, drawn on paper, redrawn eleven times. There was no launch, no season, no calendar — only the question of whether the line was right. It took a year to answer.
Chapter II
Material before form
We choose hides before we choose silhouettes. Full-grain calf from a single Tuscan tannery, vegetable-tanned over weeks rather than hours, so the leather warms rather than wears.
Chapter III
The hand that finishes
Every edge is burnished by hand, every turn-lock polished and then quieted. The last four hours of a bag are spent removing things — a shine, a stitch, a detail that asked for attention.
Where we are going
The next piece will take as long as it takes.
We are drawing three more shapes. When they are honest, they will be released — and not a week before. Until then, the house stays small on purpose.
